time, please slow down. thank you.

We have had so many fun outings the last few weeks that I am having a hard time keeping up with my posts!  So, please excuse my picture posts.  I wish I had more time to tell you all about the details!
but I hope you enjoy catching up with us anyway!

a memorable last-minute date

Last week while Jake's mom was here visiting us, we had a wonderful surprise date night!  we had just put makenzie to bed and she told us to leave! haha! no really, she did!  and we didn't argue with her!  It was about 8:30 and we had already had dinner and a movie we were wanting to see didn't start until 10, so we picked up our favorite frozen yogurt and headed to the Jefferson Memorial.  It had been raining all day for the past few days, but we didn't get a drop for the couple hours we were out!  It was a gorgeous night and we had so much fun!  there is seriously nothing like the dc monuments at night!

a fun little visitor!

jake's mom and nephew, dallas, came to visit for a few days last week.  although the weather did not cooperate (rain all 3 days they were here),  we had so much fun with them!

meeting uncle jake at work for lunch!

i am bummed i didn't get more pictures but it was almost impossible to get them both holding still for longer that 2 seconds!  they had so much fun together and dallas is the best cousin!  he called Makenzie "Kenzie darling" the whole time he was here and was always wanting to love on her!
we miss you mom and Dallas!  thanks for coming to visit!!

apple orchard and apple pie :)

Makenzie and I went with a friend to an apple orchard in Maryland last week.  I had never been apple picking before so I was excited about the experience.  makenzie was enjoying snacking on the apples and with every apple picked i become more and more excited for my first homemade apple pie!

and it did not disappoint!!!!  wow it was delicious!!!

pumpkin patch with friends!

beautiful day in dc

we spent the day in dc paddle boating on the tidal basin and checking out a fun event called "The Taste of DC" where you get to try out food from restaurants all over the city!  it was great weather and tons of fun!
